What To Expected During Your Everest Base Camp Tour?
Everest’s intimidating peak soars so high that hiking
to its base camp is still known as a highest form of adventure. If
you’re on a Nepal Holiday Tour for this kind of adventure, let us guide you through top 3 basic things you can expect from your EBC trek.
The
adventure starts from Lukla: To arrive at Lukla from Kathmandu, you
have to catch an early morning flight in a tiny airplane with roaring
engine. From Lukla, you’ll trek to Phakding for three hours, passing
through Sherpa villages, shrines & monasteries of Drangdrak Gompa
& Pema Choling Gompa. During this trek you’ll find quick chances to
soak in the awe-inspiring panoramas of sacred mountain Khumbila &
Kusum Kangaru.

Demanding
but not super difficult six hour trek per day: Reaching the base of the
globe’s highest mountain doesn’t need you to be a professional trekker.
Anybody in good health condition can comfortably accomplish Everest Base Camp Trek.
However, don’t expect it to be easy because it’s not. The route still
covers 75 miles round trip and the extreme altitudes of 17,500ft pose a
challenge, making it not fit for every adventurer.
The
days are also long, with average of 6 hours of trekking per day but
each day of trekking adventure to the base camp rewards you with a sense
of accomplishment and excitement which grows the higher you climb.
Rest
Days aren’t really rest days: You will take rest on Namche Bazaar. Many
climbers call it rest days but they are not really rest days. During
these days, you will acclimatize which means steep climbing & this
is where you’ll feel changes in air.
Everything
becomes more costly the higher you climb: Bottled water, snacks,
internet service or hot shower are usually not included in your tour
package, so they will need to be budgeted for. You will find that the
higher you go, the higher the price of everything. A bottle of water in
Lukla(at 9,200 feet) only costs you around $0.50 and this same bottle
will cost you up to $2 when you get to Gorakshep (at 16,900 feet).
So
to save some money, we advise our guests to take plenty of snacks such
as energy bars or chocolates, or consider using water purification
tablets or water purification filter bottle to save some money on
drinks. If you love tea, bring a variety of tea as well as hot water is
slightly cheap up there.
Be it EBC trek or Annapurna Base Camp trek – proper preparation is always important to make your trip comfortable and memorable.
